Transamerica Employees Suit up for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas Half Marathon

Transamerica has been helping people feel better about the future for over 100 years. And since wealth doesn’t mean much without health, we’re excited to share the latest news from our partnership with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series.

On March 19, two Transamerica employees will enter the race as “Tomorrow Chasers” — starting from the back of the pack. For every runner they pass, Transamerica will donate $1 to the American Heart Association. Meet Justin and Beth from our Plano, Texas, office:

Justin Hung, lead process engineer

Justin has run in six half marathons. In the last two years however, he hasn’t run at all. At 15 days old, Justin’s daughter was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect, requiring open-heart surgery. She spent a month and a half in neonatal intensive care before coming home for the first time. While his daughter continues to have biannual cardiologist appointments, Justin reports she is a happy, healthy child. Justin’s inspiration to run is clear: “I was looking for motivation. My daughter is my motivation.”

Beth Holmes, customer service representative

After losing a close friend to stroke, Beth decided to make heart health a top priority. She revamped her routine and started exercising regularly. When given the chance to become a Tomorrow Chaser, Beth didn’t think twice (even though she had never participated in a race before). While many people consider long distance events intimidating, Beth proves that you don’t need to be an Olympic-caliber athlete to take major strides for your health.
